Nathan E. Carr, Esq. LL.M – Partner

Mr. Carr is a Partner of Carr & Pew, PLLC.  Mr. Carr excels in the representation of individuals and businesses in tax resolution matters in front of the Internal Revenue Service and in Bankruptcy matters.  Mr. Carr has represented taxpayers in front of the Internal Revenue Service and local taxing authorities during audits, appeals, collection due process hearings, offer in compromise filings, innocent spouse defense matters, discharging tax liabilities in bankruptcy and in the removal of continuous wage levies and bank levies on taxpayers who are experiencing hardships. Additionally, Mr. Carr has represented debtors in US Bankruptcy Court and in Bankruptcy related hearings.  Mr. Carr understands the complicated procedures of the Internal Revenue Service and he understands the procedures of the Bankruptcy Court.  Mr. Carr knows how to assist his clients in getting resolution from their tax and debt problems.

Mr. Carr initially gained experience representing taxpayers in their tax resolution matters while he was in law school as a student attorney in the law school's low income taxpayer clinic.  Since then, Mr Carr has continued to represent taxpayers while working as a tax attorney in a Mesa, Arizona law and then in a Phoenix, Arizona tax boutique law firm and now presently he has teamed up with Mr. Lawrence “D” Pew to effectively represent taxpayers and bankruptcy debtors at Carr & Pew, PLLC.

Mr. Carr received his B.A. in Spanish with a Minor in Business Management from Weber State University and his J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law.  Additionally, Mr. Carr has a post J.D. Degree, a Master's in Law in Taxation (LL.M), from the University of Denver College of Law/University of Denver Daniels College of Business. Mr. Carr is currently a member of the American Bar Association Taxation Section.

Mr. Carr is licensed to practice law in Arizona and Utah and the Federal District Courts, including Bankruptcy Court,  for those two jurisdictions.  Mr. Carr is also licensed to practice in U.S Tax Court.  As a licensed attorney, Mr. Carr can represent taxpayers from all 50 States in front of the Internal Revenue Service and with their specific federal tax matters and issues.  In fact, Mr. Carr has represented taxpayers residing in Arizona, Utah, California, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Colorado, Massachusetts, Missouri and Michigan.

Lawrence “D” Pew, Esq. - Partner

Mr. Pew is a Partner of Carr & Pew, PLLC and is an experienced bankruptcy, tax, and transactional attorney.  Mr. Pew is a native Arizonan and graduated from Arizona State University and from the Barrett’s Honors College with a major in Finance and a minor is Sociology.  He was also nominated by his professors and peers for “Outstanding Graduating Senior”.  Upon Graduation, Mr. Pew was recruited by IBM and relocated to Silicon Valley.  He left his banking career at Bank One and his hometown for a new adventure.  Working as a Financial Analyst, Mr. Pew controlled a Billion Dollar budget and was instrumental in saving IBM over $100 million Dollars.

Needing more of a challenge, Mr. Pew then went to law school in San Diego.   Here he focused on business planning, tax, contracts, real estate, and estate planning.  Mr. Pew was president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and the Federalist Society.  One of his presidential highlights was being invited to Washington D.C. as part of a Federalist Leadership Conference where he met Justice Clarence Thomas.  During law school, Mr. Pew was selected for a highly competitive internship with Fisher Thurber in La Jolla, California. 

Here he was deeply involved with business planning and contract analysis.
Upon Law School Graduation, Mr. Pew returned to Arizona and began working at a prestigious boutique firm in the Camelback area.  His focus was estate planning, asset protection, and assisting small businesses.  He then joined the Valley’s Largest Consumer Law Firm.  Here Mr. Pew helped hundreds of people file for bankruptcy.  Soon he began to be recognized for his understanding of bankruptcy law and his creative nature, resulting in being assigned the firm’s more difficult cases.   Thereafter, a colleague, Mr. Carr, convinced him to join his firm where they could provide first rate service to their clients and provide real results. 

Mr. Pew’s concern and compassion for his clients adds to the excellent service and standards at Carr & Pew.  He has worked tirelessly in order to produce fantastic results and outcomes for the firm’s clients.  Given his diverse background and experience, Mr. Pew provides real world answers and practical solutions.  Mr. Pew continues to practice law because of the difference he can make in peoples lives, especially during their darkest hours.
